Skai Jackson has been cleared of charges after her arrest for alleged domestic violence. The lack of evidence led to the decision not to pursue charges against her.
Last week, a video emerged showing Jackson and her boyfriend engaged in a physical altercation at Universal CityWalk.
According to TMZ, the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office has declined to file charges against Skai. They cited reasons such as Skai’s clean criminal record, the alleged victim’s lack of injuries, and the victim’s refusal to cooperate with prosecutors.
After Jackson refused to cooperate with authorities, they proceeded to take her to the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station for processing.
Jackson was taken into custody by the police but was later released after a few hours. Despite the clear evidence from the video, both Jackson and her boyfriend denied any physical altercation. They insist that they are in a happy and committed relationship, and are also expecting a child.
According to a statement from an LASD spokesperson, they have determined that Ms. Jackson was the main instigator in the incident and have arrested her for misdemeanor spousal battery.
According to a report by VIBE, Jackson was arrested earlier this week. The report mentions that in 2016, at the age of 14, Jackson was recognized for her advocacy against cyberbullying and was included in TIME Magazine’s Most Influential Teens list. Last year, she took on more mature roles and starred in the film Sheroes, portraying the character Daisy, who is introduced as “The Lost Soul” and is described as a drug user exploring her sexuality.
On August 14th, Jackson went live and skillfully avoided answering questions from her fans. Amber Corrine of VIBE reported that when a fan asked her about the incident between her fiancé and herself at Universal Studios, she chose to ignore the question and instead talked about a new show she had recently finished filming. Fans quickly took screenshots of the Live session and noticed that none of the “questions” she claimed to have answered were actually visible on the screen.
