Three individuals, including the mother-in-law of the alleged victim, have been accused of attempted murder in relation to an attack on a pregnant woman in Boron, as per court documents.
During the horrifying incident, she recounted how one of the attackers made a desperate attempt to snatch the unborn child from her womb, despite her being in her 32nd week of pregnancy.
The documents do not provide clarity on whether the fetus suffered any harm. Additionally, the reports are heavily redacted, making it difficult to determine which defendant was responsible for specific actions.
Authorities have stated that a teenage boy was also involved in the incident, which is the last charge in question.
Alcantarra, who has pleaded not guilty, is scheduled for a court hearing this week. As for the other two individuals, their custody status is currently undisclosed.
According to court records, charges were filed in August.
In April, authorities responded to a report of an assault and discovered two women engaged in a physical altercation near a parked vehicle, as stated in court documents. They promptly intervened, separating the individuals and proceeded to interview witnesses and parties involved in the incident.
According to the filings, the woman who was pregnant had noticeable bruising and bleeding on her lips and nose, while her eyes had already started swelling.
An investigator wrote that while at the scene, the woman was experiencing vomiting, difficulty breathing, and early signs of labor.
After the incident, she was swiftly transported to the trauma room at Antelope Valley Hospital via an ambulance. Once there, she immediately recounted the details of the incident.
On that particular morning, the woman’s live-in boyfriend was taken into custody on suspicion of spousal battery. This was not the first occurrence of such an event during their relationship, as the woman revealed.
The scene plays out in a familiar pattern. Her mother-in-law arrives, taking with her her son’s belongings, including a Nissan that the woman claimed as her own.
Before her mother-in-law arrived, she decided to take the car out to run some errands.
Upon her return, she discovered that items had been displaced from their original positions and her boyfriend’s belongings had been rummaged through. Although no one was present, she speculated that her mother-in-law had possibly visited during her absence.
She departed once more for a short period of time.
As she was driving back home, she suddenly felt a bump against the Nissan. It turned out that another vehicle had approached from behind.
Glancing out of the passenger window, she caught sight of a teenage boy clutching what she initially perceived to be a gun. Reacting swiftly, she steered her car towards the side gate of her residence, desperate to put distance between herself and the alarming scene.
As her mother-in-law approached, the woman shared her frustration. She explained that she had been diligently keeping the doors locked. However, her mother-in-law had a key and persistently managed to unlock the doors whenever she locked them. It seemed like an endless battle to keep the doors closed.
The woman quickly maneuvered her way to the back seat in an attempt to escape. However, she soon realized that the other defendants had encircled the vehicle.
The assault continued until deputies arrived, according to the woman. She informed investigators that she had previously been assaulted by her mother-in-law while she was pregnant with another child.
