Burglars have recently targeted and ransacked the Byrna self-defense store in Van Nuys.

Three individuals broke into a self-defense store in Los Angeles County in the early hours of Tuesday morning, taking whatever they could carry.

At approximately 3:40 a.m., a burglary took place in the 7600 block of Van Nuys Boulevard. The perpetrators audaciously surveyed the business, completely disregarding the presence of multiple security cameras. One of them even attempted to open the front door.

The suspects chose to break a window and enter the store since the front door was locked. They swiftly gathered whatever items they could lay their hands on before the authorities showed up.

According to Mike Mahfoud, the store owner, the suspects made off with tasers, projectiles, and a few Byrna pistols that shoot pepper-filled projectiles.

Mahfoud emphasized the effectiveness of these tools, stating that they have the potential to cause significant damage.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the store’s alarm after the shattered glass triggered it. However, no arrests were made as the suspects managed to escape through the back.

Mahfoud expressed his concern about the duration, stating that it took a significant 22 minutes.

The suspects could not be described by the investigators. According to the store owner, the exact amount of losses has not been tallied yet.

“It’s only getting worse,” Mahfoud lamented. “The alarming thing is that we used to witness it once a month, but now it’s happening on a daily basis, sometimes even multiple times a week.”

Mahfoud hopes he won’t have to deal with burglars again as crews boarded up the broken window.

“We aim to strengthen the entire area to prevent a recurrence of this unfortunate incident,” he stated.
