On August 22, 2024, officers from the Ridgecrest Police Department conducted a search warrant in the 100 block of Campfire Drive in California City.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers from the Ridgecrest police discovered a purse that belonged to a resident of Ridgecrest at the specified location.
Afterward, the authorities reached out to the resident of Ridgecrest, who informed them that her husband had been a victim of robbery during his time in California City on August 22, 2024.
The California City Police Department investigated the case and confirmed that Laird was allegedly one of the suspects involved in the robbery.
