Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies are currently conducting an investigation into the death of a man discovered at a residence in Palmdale. The incident occurred following a more than seven-hour standoff with authorities, during which a suspect was apprehended.
The suspect was arrested after deputies from the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau surrounded the home on Oxford Drive in Palmdale for over seven hours.
According to Sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner, authorities were summoned to the location on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to conduct a welfare check on an individual.
The SEB unit received a call at approximately 1:50 p.m. on Saturday regarding a residence located near Victory Outreach Palmdale Christian Church and west of 25th Street East.
According to a news videographer who was present at the scene, neighbors informed him that a pool maintenance man had stumbled upon a disturbing sight at the residence. Upon learning that a suspect was inside, the responding deputies immediately called the Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB).
For the safety of the residents, sheriff’s officials evacuated the surrounding homes.
In the cover of darkness, video footage captured an armored vehicle breaking through a second-story window and seemingly deploying flash-bang devices inside after several hours had passed.
The sheriff’s department concluded the tactical response at 9:22 p.m., allowing neighbors to return to their homes.
The police have apprehended a suspect, according to Koerner. Homicide detectives have been called to the residence to commence their ongoing investigation.
