According to police reports on July 9, four individuals, including three men and one woman, were apprehended for a string of residential burglaries in the Southland region. The suspects allegedly pretended to be construction workers by wearing reflector vests as part of their modus operandi.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the group of suspects focused on more than 30 affluent homes located in areas such as Los Angeles, Studio City, West Los Angeles, and West Hollywood. They specifically targeted high-end purses, jewelry, watches, and cash.
According to the police, the suspects used to employ a tactic where one person would put on a reflector vest and visit residential areas to see if anyone was home, without attracting any unwanted attention.
According to a statement released by the police, if the house seemed to be unoccupied, additional suspects would come forward and enter through the back entrance.
Police reported that the North Hollywood Division burglary detectives, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Major Crimes Bureau and Burglary-Robbery Taskforce, effectively collaborated to detain the culprits on June 27 and July 3.
Authorities have reported that during an attempted burglary in Studio City on June 27, three suspects were arrested and have been identified as Roderick Dennis, aged 39, from Los Angeles, Michael Mitchell, aged 21, from Ontario, and Munya Jones, aged 21, also from Los Angeles.
According to the authorities, the suspects utilized various rented automobiles and advanced tactics to conceal their identities and evade the investigators.
Police have apprehended all three suspects for residential burglary. Additionally, on July 3, Ashley Ellison, Mr. Dennis’s girlfriend, was taken into custody for allegedly renting vehicles for the suspects.
According to the police, Ms. Ellison had stolen items in her possession at her residence, which were intended for Mr. Dennis.
Police found incriminating evidence linking Mr. Dennis and his accomplices to the burglaries during the investigation. This included the seizure of thousands of dollars in cash, two stolen firearms, and jewelry appraisals. The detectives also gathered additional evidence to strengthen the case against them.
Police arrested Ms. Ellison on suspicion of receiving stolen property. The “reflector vest crew” is believed to have additional suspects and may have committed other crimes. Detectives are actively working to identify these individuals.
