On Thursday afternoon in San Dimas, a domestic dispute that ensued in an attack with a Samurai-style sword resulted in the death of one woman and the hospitalization of two others.
Just before 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department dispatched deputies to the intersection of South Huntington Avenue and Basset Court in response to reports of a rescue situation.
KTLA obtained video footage that depicted a solitary woman wielding a sword near a parked U-Haul box truck in the 300 block of South Huntington Avenue. The woman had blood on her right leg and hands. Authorities arrived at the scene.
The woman signaled to the deputies as they approached.
It seemed as though she intended to demonstrate the sword to them; however, she promptly lowered it and raised her palms when directed to do so by the deputies.

At a news conference, LASD Lt. Daniel Vizcarra stated, “That female then directs them to a residence on the street where the deputies find an additional female who was later pronounced dead at the scene, and who was also suffering from lacerations.” As they proceeded through the residence, they discovered an additional female who was unharmed. She was also transported to a nearby hospital as a result of a medical emergency.
According to previous reports by Rick Chambers, the emergency may have been a heart attack. A 95-year-old man who was missing was discovered deceased on the cliffs beneath a park in the Harbor area of Los Angeles.
Authorities are currently unaware of the cause of the fatal violence between at least two of the women, as they are only able to communicate in Mandarin Chinese, which has impeded the investigation.
Lt. Vizcarra stated, “The preliminary investigation indicates that there may be a familial connection; however, we have not yet verified this due to the language barrier.”
According to aerial footage from Sky5, the U-Haul truck was on South Huntington Avenue, and the Samurai sword was in the street, which had yellow crime scene tape around it.
The interpreters have been dispatched to the hospital and the site to assist investigators in gaining a more comprehensive understanding of the events.
According to detectives, there is no additional danger to the community.
