As motorcyclists, we inherently accept the risks that come with riding. It’s a harsh reality that we have to face every time we hit the road, whether we choose to acknowledge it or not. The news of a fellow rider losing their life in a traffic accident is always difficult to hear, reminding us of the dangers we face every time we ride.
The Democratic Party announced that last Wednesday, they lost San Diego County Democratic Chair Rebecca Taylor in a tragic motorcycle accident in Utah. The party’s statement revealed that Becca was hit from behind while returning from a trip. Unfortunately, there are no further details available at the moment.
Becca’s untimely death on her motorcycle was a heartbreaking loss for her community, leaving an irreplaceable void. Kyle Krahel-Frolander, who is currently serving as the party’s chair, expressed his sorrow by acknowledging Becca’s remarkable contributions. He stated that Becca was not just a leader, but a public servant, a Navy veteran, and an advocate for victims of sexual assault.
She also served as a member of the OB Town Council and volunteered her time to help asylum seekers find resources. Becca embodied the very best of humanity, and her sudden and devastating loss is something that the community is still trying to come to terms with. The party stands by Becca’s family and loved ones during this difficult time as they mourn their loss.
From all reports, Becca lived an admirable life that was tragically cut short. During her time in the Navy, she worked as an aviation electrician and dedicated her free time to volunteering as a sexual assault victim advocate.
In 2014, she took on the role of co-founder and the first female chair of the Veterans Caucus of the California Young Democrats. Along with this, she also dedicated her time as a volunteer manager for the San Diego Rapid Response Network, an organization that aids asylum seekers. Her commitment to serving others is truly admirable.
During this challenging time, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to the loved ones and friends of Becca.
