LASD successfully resolves early morning standoff in Malibu with ADW suspect
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) swiftly reacted to a barricaded suspect situation in Malibu during the early hours of August 21. Around 5:00 a.m., a distressing incident unfolded on the 29000 block of Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), involving a suspect who was allegedly responsible for assault with a deadly weapon.
SEB personnel took control of the situation and led the tactical operations, while a Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) made efforts to establish communication with the suspect in order to peacefully resolve the situation. As a precautionary measure, Pacific Coast Highway was temporarily closed between Heathercliff Road and Busch Drive to ensure the safety of the public.
The suspect, who had barricaded himself inside his vehicle, was apprehended without any trouble around 8:30 a.m. After the situation was resolved, PCH was reopened for traffic at 10:19 a.m. If you have any information about the incident, please contact the Malibu/Lost Hill’s Station at (818) 878-1808, as requested by the Sheriff’s Department.
