The man accused of assaulting a woman at an LA Metro station in Pasadena and subsequently throwing her into oncoming traffic on the 210 Freeway has now been formally charged with attempted murder.
According to a Monday announcement, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has charged Juan Pablo Flores, 33, with one count of attempted murder and one count of mayhem.
On August 7, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Flores allegedly assaulted the victim at the Allen Metro station on the Metro A Line.
After the incident, the woman was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, while the authorities promptly apprehended Flores.
L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón expressed in a news release on Monday that no one should have to experience such brutality, emphasizing that everyone deserves to go about their day without fearing for their safety.
According to Gascón, the District Attorney’s Office will not tolerate violence on our transit system. He emphasized that they will continue to hold those responsible fully accountable for their actions.
Flores is currently in custody at the Men’s Central Jail in Chinatown, with bail set at $2 million.
Flores is set to face arraignment on Tuesday. If he is found guilty as charged, he could potentially be sentenced to life in prison.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the case.
