California’s Los Angeles The 31-year-old boyfriend, later known as Mandako, was convicted guilty of first-degree murder and other charges, according to court documents. He now faces 53 years to life in prison in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 23-year-old CarIiena. According to the prosecution, the defendant repeatedly shot his spouse in the head as she was operating the car with her four children, who ranged in age from two to six, in the rear. When the defendant committed the offense, he was sitting in the passenger seat.
Four years ago, the 911 caller reported gunshots heard from within the house to the operator, starting the investigation process. When the responding police got on the site, they found that multiple rounds had been fired inside the residence. After speaking with a witness, the responding police were informed that the victim had got into her car with her kids. Then, just before the car took off, the defendant got into the passenger seat.
The defendant and his girlfriend were fighting before they departed with the car, the witness also told the detectives. A short while later, a 911 caller reported to the dispatcher that bullets were fired inside a car, which then plunged into a river. Two unnamed males spotted the accident and leaped into the river to help the passengers, the responding officers learned.
First responders discovered that the woman had been shot in the head twice after they allegedly relocated the woman’s body and saved the four children. The defendant “was standing nearby the car not doing anything to help,” according to the witnesses who testified before investigators. Investigators were informed by the woman’s oldest child that their mother had been shot by their mom’s boyfriend before to the vehicle accident. According to court documents, the 31-year-old offender will receive a sentence in September.
