A significant water main break at the intersection of Charleston and Joaquin roads caused street closures and may result in discolored water in the homes of Mountain View residents on Thursday afternoon.
The city has announced that Charleston Road, stretching from Huff Avenue to Shoreline Boulevard, will be closed temporarily until further notice.
At 1:45 p.m., the authorities were alerted about the water main break. Around 45 minutes later, the city officials took action by closing Charleston Road. They advised the residents to find alternative routes and anticipate traffic delays.
The City of Mountain View has reported that a break in the water system has resulted in high water flows throughout the city. As a result, residents may currently be experiencing discolored water.
The city issued a statement advising residents to run the water in their homes if they notice any discoloration. They reassured the public that although it may be unusual, discolored water is a normal occurrence during these types of events and is safe to use.
As of the time of this report, the city has stated that the break has been isolated and crews are currently working on repairing it. However, there is currently no estimated timeframe for when the roads will reopen.
