On Wednesday, authorities in San Diego successfully apprehended a convict who had walked away from a minimum-security correctional facility in Central California earlier this week.
According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Ashiel Bahar, aged 37, turned himself in to the authorities at approximately 8 a.m. The surrender was carried out without any incident, although the exact location of the arrest has not been disclosed.
According to the public affairs department of the CDCR, Bahar, who was serving as a second striker under California’s “three strikes” law, was reported missing from Owens Valley Conservation Camp in Bishop around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
In November of last year, Bahar received a four-year prison sentence in San Diego County for committing burglary, grand theft, identity theft, and attempting to evade police while driving recklessly.
According to the corrections department, the Inyo County District Attorney’s Office will be considering possible escape charges in his case.
