An unfortunate incident occurred in California, where a mother of eight lost her life while confronting a group of individuals whom she suspected of selling marijuana vape pens to her child. Local news reports indicate that she took matters into her own hands, but tragically, it resulted in a fatal outcome.
Maria Guadalupe Ramos Velasco, a 33-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was shot in Oakland on August 7th. The incident occurred at around 2:20 p.m. near the intersection of Hilton Street and Bancroft Avenue.
Earlier in the day, Ramos and her mother, Blanca Velasco, spotted a Toyota parked near Velasco’s house. They assumed that the individuals in the car were selling marijuana vape pens to one of Ramos’ children. Velasco mentioned to KTVU that they planned to approach the vehicle and ask them to refrain from coming to their house.
A 16-year-old suspect, whose identity has been withheld due to their age, allegedly shot and fatally injured Ramos. Velasco, who drove away when the suspect aimed the weapon at her, later returned to find her daughter lying on the ground.
Isaiah Gomez, 19, is facing accusations from prosecutors for his alleged role as an accessory to a crime.
As Velasco recounted the intense moment, he shared, “I began gently stroking her chest, urging her to take deep breaths. Lupita, we need you. You have eight children.” The determination in his voice resonated as he recalled the harrowing experience.
According to her mother, Ramos had previously battled with drug addiction. Tragically, she is survived by seven daughters, ranging from the ages of one to sixteen, and a seven-year-old son.
Ramos’ aunt, Maria Del Carmen Beltran, expressed the need for a change in lifestyle. She emphasized the importance of not resorting to violence, stating, “We don’t have to be people who harm others, you know?”
The body of a 56-year-old woman who was reported missing in Covington has been discovered on a Cincinnati interstate.
Beltran expressed heartfelt sentiments about Ramos, stating, “She filled the lives of those who knew her with immense joy, love, and kindness.” Beltran further emphasized the collective effort to honor Ramos’s memory and ensure she receives a deserving farewell.
According to the page dedicated to the “MarĂa Guadalupe Ramos Velasco family,” any donations made will directly benefit her children and assist in alleviating the financial strain on the Ramos family.
