Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office have charged a 19-year-old for his involvement in an assault that took place on Wednesday night in Leonardtown, Maryland.
According to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, a 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged for his involvement in an assault that occurred on Wednesday night in Leonardtown, Maryland.
Around 9:45 p.m., a business owner in Leonardtown’s 25000 block of Point Lookout Road reported a “suspicious incident” involving Carl James Zimmerman, a resident of Hollywood, Maryland, who was in the parking lot at the time.
A coworker approached employees of a company as they were leaving for their shifts, according to a statement from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. The co-worker reportedly drove by, rolled down their vehicle window, and pointed a firearm at the victims. Deputies spoke with the victims and advised them on the situation.
After the discussions, the officers were able to pinpoint Zimmerman’s identity and subsequently apprehend him at his residence.
According to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, Zimmerman’s weapon was a legally registered 12-gauge shotgun that had a “bullpup” style. Upon his arrest, the authorities were able to recover the said weapon.
Currently, Zimmerman is facing charges of four counts of first-degree assault and four counts of second-degree assault, which are considered as a felony in Maryland. As of now, he is being held without bond until the court hearing scheduled for August 5th.
