The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed on Thursday that the legendary fitness instructor and TV personality passed away due to blunt traumatic injuries. The 76-year-old’s death was determined to be accidental.
Arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease was mentioned as a contributing factor.

On July 11, the star experienced a fall and spent the entire next day in bed. However, tragedy struck the following morning of July 13 when Simmons was discovered unresponsive on the floor of his bedroom. Authorities were immediately notified, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deputy medical examiner completed their examination at the department’s Forensic Science Center on July 14, according to the statement. The cause of Simmons’ death was officially certified on Aug. 22.
The medical examiner’s office has announced that a complete medical examiner’s report will be available by August 30.

The announcement confirmed the information shared by Tom Etsey, the Simmons family spokesperson, with Fox News Digital.
In a statement sent on Wednesday, Etsey revealed that Richard Simmons’ brother Lenny had received a call from the LA Coroner’s office earlier that morning.
Lenny was informed by the Coroner that Richard’s death was accidental, with complications from recent falls and heart disease playing a contributing role. The toxicology report revealed no issues apart from the medication Richard had been taking as prescribed.
The LAPD has informed Fox News Digital that they do not suspect any foul play in the death of Richard Simmons.
Estey expressed gratitude on behalf of the family for the overwhelming love and support received during this difficult period of bereavement.
Teresa Reveles, Richard Simmons’ devoted caretaker, found him in his bedroom on the day of his passing.
Reveles, in an interview with People magazine, recounted the moment he laid eyes on him. “He appeared serene,” Reveles recalled, observing that his hands were tightly clenched.

“I experienced a heart attack a few years ago, and I went through a similar situation with my hands,” she shared.
Reveles mentioned that Simmons had been experiencing pain in his leg the day before his passing, possibly due to a fall he had the day before. Sadly, Simmons passed away on July 12, just one day after his birthday.
“Let’s go to the hospital. Maybe you broke your leg,” she suggested to him. Simmons protested, “No, Teresa, not on my birthday. Why don’t we wait and do it in the morning?”

These include his television show, aptly named “The Richard Simmons Show,” as well as guest appearances on game shows and late-night TV. In addition, his iconic workout videos titled “Sweatin’ to the Oldies” gained immense popularity upon their release in 1988.
