Late last week, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón charged Ryan Garcia, a professional boxer, with allegedly vandalizing the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills on June 8.
District Attorney Gascón expressed gratitude that no injuries were sustained in the incident, but emphasized that reckless behavior that causes property damage is unacceptable and shows a blatant disregard for the safety and peace of the community. He further stated that his office will take necessary measures to ensure that the individual responsible for the damage is held accountable for their actions.
On August 8, 1998, Garcia was born and is facing a misdemeanor count of vandalism. The accusation is for causing damage or destruction of property that amounts to $400 or more. The alleged defacement, damage, and destruction exceed $400.
The arraignment of Garcia has been set for August 7 in Department 72 of the Airport Courthouse. One year in county jail is the maximum sentence that he could receive if he is found guilty.
Celeste Cardio was arrested in connection with the incident, but her case was not prosecuted due to lack of evidence.
The Beverly Hills Police Department investigated the case.
