The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department reported that a man was apprehended in Vista on Wednesday following the execution of a search warrant. The search resulted in the uncovering of illegal firearms and controlled substances.
Around 1:30 p.m., authorities from the Vista Sheriff’s Station were summoned to a residence in the 900 block of Sugarbush Terrace to look into a case of “temporary restraining order violation.”
Sheriff’s deputies uncovered that the residence in question was occupied by Sean Christiansen, a 39-year-old convicted felon. Further investigation revealed that Christiansen had several firearms and ammunition in his possession. These findings led detectives to obtain a search warrant for his home.
During the search, the department discovered over 35 rifles and handguns, alongside body armor, different firearm parts, illegal high-capacity magazines, several rounds of ammunition, firearms manufacturing equipment, and approximately five ounces of psilocybin mushrooms.
According to a press release by the department, the search revealed that most of the firearms were not legally permitted for possession.
The authorities took Christiansen into custody and registered him at the Vista Detention Facility. He was charged with the following allegations:
-
- Convicted felon in possession of a firearm/ammunition/stun gun
- Possession of an illegal firearm
- Possession of an illegal weapon (expandable baton)
- Possession of a controlled substance for sale
Authorities at (858) 565-5200 are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation into the weapons seizure is still ongoing.
