A fire on Saturday evening has caused the closure of Highway 58 in both directions in the Mojave area.
At approximately 4:49 p.m., the Kern County Fire Department took to social media to report that fire crews had arrived at the location of a 10-acre vegetation fire near Cameron Road, off of Highway 58.
The fire department reported that after approximately 20 minutes, they were able to stop the forward progress of the fire.
Avoid driving through this area as hazardous materials are burning, causing smoke, according to KCFD. Stay informed and take necessary precautions.
A vehicle fire has resulted in the closure of Highway 58 in both directions between Mojave and Sand Canyon Road, according to CHP Mojave.
According to CHP, it is advisable to search for alternative paths as the route may remain closed until 7:30 p.m.
