LOS ANGELES – Southern California law enforcement officers are headed to Wisconsin to provide security at the 2024 Republican National Convention following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. Dozens of officers are being deployed for this important task.
Governor Gavin Newsom has announced that 61 law enforcement officers, comprising 40 California Highway Patrol members and officers from the Bakersfield, Fresno, and Long Beach police departments, have been included in the recent statement.
According to Newsom, public safety is paramount irrespective of political affiliations. He expressed his pride in supporting the law enforcement officers in Wisconsin during the Republican National Convention. Newsom emphasized that working together will ensure a safe and secure environment for all participants at the event.

During Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday, a shooting incident resulted in the death of one spectator and critical injuries to two others.
After sustaining injuries, Trump assured his supporters that he is doing well. He emphasized the importance of coming together and staying strong during the ongoing investigations into the shooter and his motivations. Trump shared this message via his Truth Social account.
On Sunday, the Federal Bureau of Investigations revealed the identity of the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old individual. Crooks was reportedly attempting to kill Trump when Secret Service agents fatally shot him.
The FBI is currently looking into the shooting incident, considering the possibility of it being an act of domestic terrorism.
