A search and rescue team from California made a remarkable discovery when they found an elderly hiker who had been missing for 30 hours. Interestingly, they also happened to cross paths with the renowned TV personality, Jay Leno, during their search.
Ki Soo Yang, a 78-year-old hiker who is described as being very fit, experienced, and well-prepared, went missing on Saturday after becoming separated from his group during a climb up Mount Waterman in Los Angeles County, according to officials.
The San Dimas Mountain Rescue crew, called in after 12 hours of searching, prepared for their mission on Sunday morning. They arrived at Newcomb’s Ranch, the meeting point for Leno and his friends, ready to assist.
The rescue team expressed their gratitude for our efforts, although they had not come across the missing hiker we were searching for.
In a cheerful moment, the ex-host of “Tonight Show” happily took a picture alongside a group of rescuers, standing proudly in front of a vibrant yellow sports car. This heartwarming encounter occurred just before they resumed their search for Yang.
After hiking for approximately eight more hours, Yang was eventually located in a safe condition, although he was suffering from dehydration.
A kind-hearted stranger encountered Yang while he was between Mount Waterman and Twin Peaks.
The kind-hearted Samaritan got in touch with the Crescenta Valley Station. As soon as possible, they airlifted Yang to a nearby hospital, where he ecstatically met up with his family.
According to Montrose Search and Rescue, he was reported missing to the Crescenta Valley station at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and he spent a total of 30 hours in the Angeles National Forest.
The search and rescue team expressed immense gratitude to all those who were involved in the search, particularly acknowledging the quick thinking and decisive action of the good Samaritan, whose involvement was crucial in this successful rescue mission.
