Authorities are responding to a vehicle fire near Blue Lakes that has impacted State Route 20 this evening. Fortunately, the fire did not spread significantly to the surrounding vegetation, according to reports from the scene.
According to both scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page, a truck caught fire near the Blue Lakes Lodge at approximately 8:30 p.m. Eyewitnesses reported that the truck was emitting thick black smoke.
Upon arriving at the scene, the Incident Commander verified that the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. However, he noted that the fire had only spread minimally to the surrounding vegetation.
As per reports, the incident has led to a reduction of traffic to one-way in the affected area.
